Mary Macari, CPA

Mary Macari, CPA, founded Macari & Associates, a firm specializing in accounting, bookkeeping, and management consulting services for small and mid-sized businesses and nonprofit organizations.  Mary joined forces with Yazbak & Company in 2023 to provide elite bookkeeping and accounting services to some of Yazbak ’s corporate clients. Prior to opening her firm, Mary worked in both private and public accounting, where she performed tax and audit services for clients across various industries.  Mary received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Rhode Island and completed master-level coursework in Accounting at Rhode Island College. In addition to her professional practice, Mary serves on the Board of Directors for The Tomorrow Fund, where she served as Treasurer from 2022 to 2024.

Among the many services she provides, Mary takes particular pride in delivering accurate financial reports and helping business owners make informed strategic decisions that strengthen their overall business performance. She looks forward to working with both individuals and businesses to meet their tax and accounting needs.

Donna Viens, PhD, CPA, CMA, CGMA
Partner, Macari, Viens & Company, Ltd.

Donna Viens brings over 25 years of experience as a CPA firm owner and advisor to individuals, as well as small and mid-sized businesses. Her background spans public accounting, private industry, and consulting, with a strong focus on taxation and financial leadership in construction, food services, manufacturing, and nonprofit organizations.

As Principal of Donna J. Viens CPA since 2000, she has provided tax planning and preparation, bookkeeping, payroll, and strategic guidance across diverse industries. Known for stepping in as a temporary Controller or CFO, Donna helps organizations stabilize finances, strengthen controls, and improve reporting. Donna has also served on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer for multiple nonprofit organizations.

Donna holds a PhD in Business Management/Accounting, an MBA in Global Business Management/Accounting, as well as a BS and AS degrees in Accounting. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, and Chartered Global Management Accountant, as well as a member of both the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA).

Edward F. Yazbak, CPA
Consulting CPA (semi-retired)

For more than 40 years, Ed Yazbak has been a trusted advisor to individuals and businesses across Rhode Island. After beginning his career with Christiansen & Company and Ernst & Young, Ed founded Yazbak & Company in 1985, where he built a firm known for integrity, professionalism, and personal care.

As a Certified Public Accountant, Ed holds both a Bachelor’s in Accounting and a Master’s in Taxation from Bryant College. He is an active member of the AICPA and RISCPA and has served on the RISCPA Board of Directors.

Ed’s leadership extends far beyond the firm. He has served as Town Council President in North Smithfield, Fire Commissioner and Chair of the Cumberland Hill Fire District, President of the Rotary Club of Woonsocket, and on numerous nonprofit boards.

Elizabeth Dulude

Elizabeth brings more than 25 years of experience in office management and bookkeeping for mid-sized private businesses, where she honed her ability to manage complex financial operations with precision and care. Since joining Macari & Associates in 2022, she has expanded her expertise in accounting and supporting clients across a wide range of industries.

With a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bryant College, Elizabeth is passionate about more than just numbers. She is dedicated to helping clients understand their financial data and use it as a practical tool for making informed business decisions. Known for her responsiveness and attention to detail, Elizabeth works side-by-side with business owners to ensure they have the clarity and confidence they need to grow. Her client-centered approach, combined with her deep operational experience, makes her an invaluable resource to the businesses she serves.

Debra Houle

Debra comes to Macari, Viens & Company after spending 30 years at Yazbak & Company. Deb brings over 40 years of bookkeeping and accounting experience, primarily serving small, privately owned businesses. An expert in QuickBooks, Excel, Word, and the firm’s specialized accounting and tax software, she leads the support staff, assists our CPAs daily, and manages all client payroll services. Known as a “para-professional,” Deb combines technical expertise with practical experience to provide efficient, reliable support for both the firm and its clients.

Alan Viens, BSIS, BSA, MSF
Chief Technology Officer, Staff Accountant

As a US Navy veteran of Desert Storm, Alan has more the 25 years working in various roles focused on IT and Data systems. With Bachelor degrees in Information Systems and Accounting, along with a Masters degree in Finance, he brings a depth of knowledge that highly compliments Macari, Viens & Company. Using his diverse background, Alan is ready to take on all tasks, both technological or accounting.
