It’s That Time Again- Let’s Get Ready for Tax Season (Without the Stress!)

Believe it or not, we’re sliding into the final stretch of the year — and that means it’s the perfect time to get a few ducks in a row before tax season sneaks up. 🦆💼

Here are a few smart (and simple) things you can do now to make April feel a lot smoother:

🧾 1. Gather Those Documents Early

Don’t wait until the W-2s and 1099s start flying in January! Pull together your charitable receipts, mortgage interest statements, property tax bills, medical expenses, and anything else that might earn you a deduction. Bonus points if you keep them in one folder — digital or otherwise (shoeboxes count… but barely).

💰 2. Check Your Withholding

If you owed a surprise bill last year or got a refund that could fund a vacation, it might be time to adjust your W-4. A quick paycheck checkup can save headaches later.

🎁 3. Make Those Last-Minute Moves

Planning a charitable donation? Get it done before December 31.

Thinking of contributing to your IRA or HSA? Know your deadlines — some go into next year, but it’s easier to plan now.

Small business owner? Prepaying certain expenses before year-end might help your 2025 tax bill.

👶 4. Update Your Info

Had a baby, got married, divorced, or moved this year? The IRS and your CPA both want to know. These changes can affect credits, deductions, and filing status.

📈 5. Review Big Life Events

Bought or sold a home? Started investing? Took on freelance work? Those “just a side hustle” moments often come with tax surprises — good or bad. Let’s get ahead of them.

☕ 6. Breathe — You’ve Got This (and Help!)

Tax prep doesn’t have to feel like climbing Mount Everest. A little organization now saves a lot of stress later.

So pour yourself a coffee (or something stronger), set aside 20 minutes this week, and do your “future self” a favor by getting a jump on your 2025 taxes.

Your CPA (that’s me!) will thank you later — and maybe even smile when your file comes in early.
